MnPass – Minnesota – USA
Cofiroute is a member of the consortium that was chosen in 2004 by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) to implement on a 18 km segment of the I-394 the first conversion of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes under a PPP.
In 2009, Cofiroute rejoined its original consortium in the installation of a second MnPass HOT Lane segment (24 km) along the I-35W Corridor, south of Minneapolis.
The MnPass HOT Lanes are toll facilities in the median lanes of the I-394 and the I-35W to the west and south of Minneapolis in Minnesota and are meant to help manage traffic congestion.
Drawing on its expertise in optimizing the capacity of lanes reserved for car pooling, Cofiroute significantly contributed to the success of this project. Since its inception, the MnPass Hot Lanes have been recognized with 9 regional and international awards for innovation in the field to tolling systems and operations.

91 Express Lanes – California – USA
The 91 Express Lanes is a 17 km 4-lane toll road in direct competition with the adjacent untolled SR91. It was the first toll road in the world with fully automated toll collection and the first American toll road with variable pricing.
The 91 Express Lanes emerged from the need to alleviate traffic congestion on the California SR-91 between Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties. In the absence of public funds to finance the project, the State of California entered into a public/private partnership with CPTC, a consortium of private corporations that included Cofiroute. The 91 Express Lanes has been continuously operated by Cofiroute since its opening in 1995.

Toll Collect – Germany
Toll Collect is the Electronic Toll Collection system for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) of over 12 tonnes. Financed and developed by a consortium comprising Cofiroute (10%), Deutsche Telekom (45%) and Daimler Financial Services (45%), the system was successfully brought into service in Germany on 1 January 2005 following several months of intensive testing. The system is implemented over 12,500 km of motorway with entry/exit points every 4.8 km (average).
The innovation in the system is the world’s first combination of GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation technology with GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) mobile radio communications – creating the basis for automatic toll collection.

Severn Bridges – United Kingdom
Since 1996, Cofiroute, through its subsidiary Cofiorute UK, operates 2 bridges (2.9 km and 5.1 km) over the Severn River between England (Bristol) and Wales (Cardiff).
Cofiroute UK’s contract covers management of toll collection over two toll plazas.
This contract strengthens Cofiroute’s international track record by giving the company one of its major references in the UK, along with the operation of the Dartford Crossing on the M25 London Orbital Motorway.
